Indiscretions
May 2001
This year, she's not in Cannes. But Denueve is everywhere : market, official competitions, advertising on the Croisette.
At the market, the script of "Au plus près de u Paradis", her newt movie, directed by cesar winner Tonie Marshall, is one of the hottest deals of the year. This romantic comedy between a french writer and an american psy takes place in New York. Oscar nominated William Hurt will be her partner.
On the screen, she opens the portuguese director's last movie "Je rentre à la maison". She's playing a wonderful duet on stage with veteran actor Piccoli (Belle de Jour) for a special cameo. The movie is one of the favorite for the critics. She has only 5 minutes to show her "maestria". It is the third time she plays a stage actress after The Last metro and East/West.
At least, we know she's among the beautiful cast of the next François Ozon (Under the sand) thriller; a story of 8 women in a big house during the fifties. And no men. But what a cast! Isabelle Huppert (Cesar, Venice and Cannes winner), Fanny Ardant (last Truffaut's wife and Cesar winner), Emmanuelle Beart (Cesar winner and ex-wife of Auteuil), Virginie Ledoyen (The Beach and L'Oreal's ads), Firmine Richard (one of the rare french black actress) and Danielle Darrieux (the old and smart lady). Darrieux played the deneuve's mother in Techine's Le Lieu du crime.
