Les miettes pour Djimon Hounsou (In America) et Shohreh Aghdashloo (House...) en seconds rôles, Charlize Theron (Monster) en actrice. Documentaire (The Fog of War), meilleur film et meilleur scénario pour une production inférieure à 500 000 $ (The Station Agent), Film étranger (Whale Rider). Ce dernier étant la seule faute de goût de ce beau palmarès.

NOMINATIONS
Un hommage à Blake Edwards, c'est presque la seule innovation pour ces Oscars, réplique quasi exacte des Golden Globes, dans le meilleur comme dans le pire. Comme nous n'aimons pas particulièrement ces cérémonies, autant se concentrer sur le mauvais côté des choses : l'absence de Scarlett Johannson (malgré deux grands films) alors que la jeune Keisha Castle-Hughes entre parmi les grandes avec un film tout juste sympathique. Mais constatons que ces Oscars sotn assez fidèles à ce qu'il y avait de mieux aux USA. Nos favoris (Master and Commander, 21 grams, Lost in Translation, Mystic River) s'y font une belle place. Les multiples nominations du brésilien La Cité de Dieu (coup de coeur à Cannes en 2002), des Invasions barbares (film étranger, scénario), des triplettes (film d'animation, chanson) permettent de compenser le sacre prévisible du Roi de Peter Jackson.
Il faut ajouter la forte présence des films indépendants dans les catégories artistiques, reflet précis de ce qu' Hollywood est devenu, une machine à effets spéciaux. Enfin reconnaissons qu'en privilégiant Watanabe à Cruise ou encore Zellweger à Kidman, les Oscars otn choisi la bonne carte. Les dix nominations pour le scénario s'avèrent passionnantes. Et les nominations de Depp, Hounsou resteront étonnantes, mais pas désagréables. Bref, hormis le Burton, snobbé (comme un vulgaire Matrix), on a de quoi se dire que les Oscars seront plus justes que les César.
