Etrange liste que celle des nominés aux 87e Oscars de l'histoire. Les films indépendants ont raflé la mise, ceux diffusés à Sundance, Berlin, Cannes et Venise. Les nominés (et vainqueurs pour certains) aux Goldens Globes y sont. Mais derrière ce consensus comment interpréter les multiples nominations(dont réalisateur) de Foxcatcher sans que le film ne soit retenu en meilleur film. Ou celle d'American Sniper nominé en meilleur film mais pas en meilleur réalisateur. Quid de Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel)? Et Gyllenhaal et Russo (Nightcrawler) ou Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner) préférés à des performances "à Oscars"? D'ailleurs comment peut-on choisir Morten Tyldum plutôt que Mike Leigh ou même Esatwood, Nolan... parmi les meilleurs réalisateurs? Les grosses productions ont aussi souffert, de Interstellar à Lego, de Into the Woods à Unbroken: les Oscars n'avaient pas envie de spectaculaire semble-t-il. Mais c'est un camouflet pour ces films et c'est d'autant plus surprenant que le fonctionnement de la catégorie du meilleur film est censé les favoriser dorénavant.
Pour le reste, de Cotillard qui réveillera l'esprit chauvin de nos confrères à Timbuktu qui est cruellement d'actualité, les Oscars ont réservé leur lot de surprises.

Avec 9 nominations Birdman et Grand Budapest Hotel surclassent les concurrents. The Imitation Game en reçoit 8, et American Sniper et Boyhood six chacun. Ce qui ne présage rien du résultat final qui sera connu le 22 février. Car, on l'a vu, le film le plus récompensé de la saison c'est bien Boyhood.
